The Capricorn Coast is a fishing Mecca for the outdoors person. Ferns
is ideally suited for fishing enthusiasts. Waterpark Creek flows all year
round past the Ferns Hideaway Restaurant and on through the surrounding grounds
offering a great opportunity for the fresh water anglers. Our Guests enjoy full
and unlimited use of a fleet of modern canoes, moored on a sandy beach adjacent
to the camping area.
Further downstream where fresh meets salt, the estuary fishermen are in
their element chasing Mangrove Jack, Barramundi, Salmon, Estuary Cod and Mud
Crabs.
Finally for the open water fishermen, with an all tides ramp only fifteen
minutes from the resort you are in the salt water section of Waterpark
Creek. It is only a twenty minute trip to the mouth at Corio Bay into the
open sea, giving access to Islands, Reef and the Widegrounds. The main
fish caught are Red Jew, Red Emperor, Coral Trout, Greasy Cod, Spanish and
Doggie Mackerel and Deep Sea Grunter.
